Gabriela Stern, RN, BSN
Therapy Intern

she/her/hers

Gabriela is a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner graduate student in her final year at Regis College completing her psychotherapy rotation at Looking Glass Counseling. She holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from Northeastern University and a bachelor's degree in nursing from Simmons University and is a registered nurse (RN).

Gabriela takes a client-centered approach to therapy and strives to foster collaborative, trusting relationships with her clients. She is dedicated to providing compassionate care to clients from diverse backgrounds, incorporating antiracism and social justice into her practice and helping break down barriers to receiving mental health services. Gabriela is interested in incorporating elements of cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, acceptance and commitment therapy, family systems therapy and feminist therapy into her practice. She utilizes empathy and a holistic approach to support clients to achieve their clinical goals, overcome obstacles, and lead happier, healthier and more meaningful lives.

She has experience working with clients in inpatient and outpatient settings with a wide range of mental health concerns, including depression, anxiety disorders, trauma, substance use disorders, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder and schizophrenia-spectrum disorders. Gabriela worked with children and adolescents with mental health diagnoses and their families in the community as a therapeutic mentor and as part of an in-home family therapy team. She is experienced at supporting individuals with substance use disorders and dual diagnoses in outpatient clinic and residential settings.

After graduation, Gabriela plans to find work providing a combination of medication management and psychotherapy to clients in an outpatient setting. In addition to her work at Regis College and Looking Glass Counseling, Gabriela spends her time going for walks with her husky, cooking, learning Spanish and traveling (during non-pandemic times).

Because she is an intern, Gabriela cannot accept insurance for therapy sessions. We offer a payment of $40/session to work with an intern, but unfortunately this is not reimbursable by insurance.
