Jen Brown, LICSW

Jen is a licensed independent clinical social worker who has been in clinical practice since 2014. She received her MSW and Certificate in Urban Leadership in Clinical Social Work from Simmons University School of Social Work. She has worked in outpatient mental health and integrative settings in community health centers, college mental health, and in affordable housing. Jen has experience working with depression and other mood disorders, anxiety, trauma/PTSD, substance use and addiction, ADHD, identity shifts/adjustment issues, chronic illness, body image concerns, and relationship issues.

Jen is passionate about addressing issues of race, culture, sexual identity, and gender identity within an anti-oppression framework, social justice-informed practice, and providing queer- and gender-affirming care. She uses a strengths-based, client-centered approach to therapy that incorporates mindfulness, relational work, narrative therapy, motivational interviewing (MI) around behavior change, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). She has special interest and experience working with LGBQ+ and transgender and gender diverse people, immigrants and refugees, survivors of trauma, and young adults.

Jen strives to create an open and collaborative therapeutic relationship to meet her clients where they are, operating from a place of curiosity and cultural humility.
