Therapist
she/her/hers
Yassmin earned her master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from Lesley University, where she specialized in trauma studies. She received her Bachelor of Arts in psychology at the American University of Beirut.
Yassmin was surrounded by various religious and cultural backgrounds throughout her formative years. She deeply understands the impact of one’s developmental and cultural experiences on how one perceives the world. Being born and raised in São Paulo, Brazil, going to college in Beirut, Lebanon and living in Boston for her graduate studies, she has an increased curiosity around, and openness towards, different ways of living and being.
Yassmin has clinical experience working with children in school settings and with adults seeking to process and heal from trauma. She has worked with people struggling with the impacts of sexual trauma in various contexts of their lives, while also living with eating disorders, struggles around self worth, addiction, grief/loss, anxiety, PTSD and relational issues among others.
Using an eclectic and trauma-informed approach, Yassmin draws from various modalities including but not limited to cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, humanistic theory and psychodynamic therapy. She believes that building an environment of safety and collaboration in the therapeutic relationship is essential regardless of modality. Her approach is highly based on her clients' needs, experiences and ways of being.
In her personal and professional life, Yassmin is social-justice oriented and takes an intersectional approach to empowerment by considering identity factors, systemic issues and power dynamics. She seeks to empower her clients into self advocacy, an essential part of healing, and believes that that in itself is a step towards a world with more justice and equality. She believes that individual and collective healing go hand in hand.
Yasmin is working toward independent licensure as a mental health professional. During that time, she is operating under the license of her clinical supervisor.
