Alyson Rezendes, MA
Therapist
she/her/hers
Alyson is a socially conscious art therapist and artist who applies a liberation-centered
approach to client work. Alyson advocates for LGBTQIA+ affirming care, fat-
acceptance, unapologetic creative expression, identity development and existential
work. She also recognizes how those intersections often show up in navigating the
pressures of western society. Alyson engages clients in the creative process while also
bringing elements of playfulness and humor into her work. Through the application of
art-based practices, traditional talk-based therapies all while utilizing a trauma-informed
lens, Alyson hopes to co-develop a strong therapeutic alliance with clients in service of
working through life’s stressors.
Alyson attended Lesley University, where she received her masters in clinical mental
health counseling with a specialization in art therapy. Alyson is passionate about
working alongside clients, acknowledging the importance of the therapeutic relationship.
Alyson is confident in supporting those navigating eating disorders, anxiety, depression,
OCD, ADHD and grief, as well as folks who are in transitional periods of life.
Alyson integrates an eclectic therapeutic style which includes but is not limited to
elements of Art Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Existential Therapy,
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and is currently learning more about Internal
Family Systems Therapy (IFS) and on how to incorporate that into her work.
Alyson is working toward independent licensure as a mental health professional. During
that time, she is operating under the license of her clinical supervisor.
