Elissa McDavid
Therapy Intern

she/her/hers

Elissa is a second-year Clinical Master of Social Work student at Boston College, with a concentration in Mental Health. Elissa has a passion for providing trauma-informed, client-centered and anti-oppressive therapy. She approaches therapy with curiosity and collaboration. She draws on relational, humanistic, and cognitive frameworks, with specific attention to the modalities of Narrative Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. She is most curious to hear your life stories and what meaning you are searching for in them. Elissa is especially interested in working with individuals in the LGBTQ+ community and those experiencing challenges with life transitions, identity, grief, anxiety, and depression.

While at Boston College her first-year field placement focused on serving individuals with a severe mental illness. In this role, she provided in-home/community-based treatment to individuals experiencing a range of symptoms and disorders, including psychosis, depression, anxiety, complex trauma and PTSD. Before attending Boston College, she worked at a humanitarian aid organization in Arizona and provided services to immigrants, with a specific focus on serving survivors of violence and torture.

Our therapy interns are working under the clinical license of their supervisors. We are limited in what insurance plans we can accept for working with an intern. We can accept Aetna, Cigna, Tufts & United/Optum insurance plans. If you have other insurance that we are unable to process we offer a generous sliding scale for paying out-of-pocket.
